My company takes up a lot of space. Space, that is, online. We are in the business of data exchange and though I can’t be more specific, I can tell you that we track the online habits of over 30,000 customers per day and base site-generated ads toward their preferences. Because of our need for a massive database we invested in a VPS hosting package last fall. It’s been a great relief not to have to worry about poaching storage space from other users or run into any traffic issues. I also feel better now that our information is more secure than it was, and that we’re less at risk than we have been in the past for hacking or electrical issues. Since I’m on the IT department, it&r! squo;s my job here to make sure our systems never go down, not to fix them. The cost of a ten minute outage by our server would measure in the thousands of dollars, so we certainly do all we can to make sure we’re set up for success before the day even starts.
